Stomping Out Drugs And Gangs founded in the fall of 2003 by Marco Johnson, a Chicago Police Officer. Officer Johnson had grown wary of the constant violence as well as observing our youth on the streets selling drugs and not in school. Marco Johnson grew up in the Chicago Housing Development, where gangs and drugs were very prominent. Marco was able to stay away from the gangs and drugs by playing sports. He was raised in a single parent household. His mother, Tina Johnson and the coaches he played for realized that sports had a positive impact. The indiviuals coaches words of encouragement and wisdom along with his mother's support made the difference in succumbing to peer pressure and becoming a product of the streets. Marco formed Stomping Out Drugs and Gangs and has since added two chapters of the Police Athletic League. One is the Chicago Police Athletic League and the second chapter is in Calumet Park, IL. This is an important element of Mentoring by Police Officers and the interaction of Police in athletics. Studies have shown that if the children learn to respect the police they will usually respect the LAW. An addtional component was added Badges for Baseball, Cal Ripken Jr.(Baseball Hall Of Famer) and the Department of Justice program.
